This past week on Thursday, October 10th, Hurricane Milton made landfall across Florida. The hurricane reached its peak as a category 5 in the Gulf of Mexico, but luckily shrunk to a category 3 before making landfall across Florida. Milton devastated families all over, creating floods, outages, road closures, and school cancellations.
In preparation for the storm Marco Island Academy originally canceled school from Monday to Thursday of last week to ensure the students’ safety, but as the week went on and the storm progressed school on Friday was also canceled. Along with the school’s closure, events like Homecoming, Senior Night, and Spirit Week have been postponed.
Although the new dates for these events have not been released yet, Marco Island Academy is working hard on rescheduling these events.
