[Logan Yarnell] Quest Diagnostics donated 3 brand new microscopes to MIA’s science department.

On Monday, October 24, 2023, MIA biology teacher Mrs. Cobos received a donation of a new three-scope microscope from Quest Diagnostics.

During the second semester of the 2022-2023 school year, Marco Island Academy’s chemistry and physics teacher Mr. Swope was contacted by Kimberly Yarnell, an employee of Quest Diagnostics, regarding the donation of the microscope for biology students. After several months of processing, the donation was finalized and set out for delivery. Planned to be used for hand-on activities in her classroom, Mr. Demonte picked up the new microscopes and delivered them to the school on Thursday, October 19th.

The addition of the new microscopes will provide both future and current biology students at MIA with an opportunity to develop a better understanding of microbiology, and first-hand experience observing the structure of cells, and formations of cell clusters.

The Marco Island Academy Science Department thanks Quest Diagnostics for their generosity, and can not wait to see the discoveries the future holds with the addition of the new equipment.
