This past week, Marco Island Academy’s Quill and Scroll club hosted a bake sale for the St. Baldrick’s foundation. Every member generously contributed by either baking something to supply the sale, or sparing their time in order to help operate the bake sale for two days in a row and make sure everything goes smoothly.

This event was created to help the club reach their goal of raising money for this important cause, increasing awareness for childhood cancer research, which is something that resonated deeply with students and staff within the campus.
The bake sale featured a wide variety of home-made baked goods, with popular sell-outs like dirt cups, which is chocolate pudding, oreo crumbs, and gummy worms, cake pops, cupcakes, cookies, and a lot more decadent treats. The table set up right outside of the lunch doors caught many students’ eyes as they walked by and they couldn’t help but stop and see their options, many giving into the temptation to purchase a sweet treat. The colorful spread of the table and the green flag waving in front to advertise the cause drew many people in, making the bake sale a big success. Brandon Nguyen, a junior, explained “everything was really good and I

couldn’t stop going back for more”
Members of the Quill and Scroll took turns managing the table, money, and going classroom to classroom to inform students about the ongoing bakesale, since the first day was an indoor lunch. Their teamwork and willingness to participate were vital to the success of the bakesale. Aidan Herzog, a senior and member of the Quill and Scroll expressed “working the bake sale was really fun, especially because my friends were there too.”
Since this bake sale was such a success, the Quill and Scroll club was confident to host another one this week. Tomorrow, Wednesday the 4th, the club will be having another bake sale during both A and B lunches. Make sure to bring money and a sweet tooth!
