Yesterday, the boys soccer team faced Mason Classical Academy in the PCAC championship match. The Manta Rays dominated the Paladins with a final score of 5-0, earning both the trophy and the title of PCAC champions. After falling short in last year’s final, the team was beyond excited to secure the win and bring the trophy home.
From the opening whistle, the boys set the tone with strong communication, quick ball movement, and relentless pressure on offense. The Manta Rays controlled the ball for most of the game, keeping Mason Classical on defense most of the time. The teamwork and all the practice were very evident in this game; all their hard work had paid off. By the end of the second quarter, the Manta Rays already had a comfortable lead, giving them confidence going into the second half.
Defensively, the boys played with power and focus, preventing Mason Classical from finding any rhythm. The defensive line worked together seamlessly, while goalkeeper Evan Shean made key saves to keep the score at zero for the Paladins. Every player on the field contributed, whether through scoring, assisting, defending, or supporting their teammates, making the win a true team effort.

The championship meant even more to the players after last season’s tough loss in the PCAC final. The defeat motivated the team to work harder throughout the off-season and regular season, pushing them to improve both individually and as a team. The determination paid off Friday night as the Manta Rays celebrated their hard-earned victory.

With the PCAC title behind them, the Manta Rays now look ahead to the district tournament, where every game is win-or-go-home. One loss means the season is over, making every match high-pressure and intense. Fueled by their championship momentum, they are determined to defend their district title and continue their run.
Matthew Gallup, sophomore Captain, said, “I’m very proud of how the team performed. Bouncing back after a 5-0 loss against Southwest Florida Christian Academy is very hard to do for a team. But our team played with confidence, and we ended up with the trophy. We hope to push towards that district final against FBA and take home the trophy for the second consecutive year.”
Freshman Kazim Kasap is a key player on this young team, having scored two goals and added an assist in this game. Kasap explained, “We played amazingly on Friday, and if we play like that against FBA, we would for sure win districts. We just need to work on our stamina and not get tired in the first half.”
Things are looking good for the Manta Rays as the boys continue to gain hope and motivation for their future games.
