The Marco Island Academy boys lacrosse team had an outstanding performance in their game on March 30 against Palmetto Ridge High School. The Manta Rays beat the Bears with a score of 15-1. The team set the tone of the game early on, and this helped the Rays dominate the Bears throughout the entire game.
The offense quickly found its rhythm. They were able to score goals early on during the game. The offense worked seamlessly, finding gaps in the defense and finding opportunities to score. Within minutes, the Manta Rays already had points on the scoreboard. Near the halfway point of the match, the Manta Rays had built a comfortable lead and were able to go into the second half confidently.
The energy did not slow down. Their efforts in defense led the team and helped them score even more. They limited the number of quality shots Palmetto could take, forcing them to work even harder to try to score.
They dominated on both ends of the field. Both the offense and defense showed great teamwork, working together instead of forcing shots. The unselfish way the Manta Rays play helped add to the lead. The team remained disciplined throughout the whole match and did not let up.
Palmetto Ridge only managed to score one time throughout the match, but by that time, the lead was already too big for them to close. The outcome of the game had already been decided. Overall, it was a whole team effort. Strong defense and a powerful offense all played key roles in the win. The team’s chemistry and communication were evident throughout the whole game, showing how much they have grown as a team all season.
This dominant win is what is going to help the Manta Rays as the postseason approaches. The Rays take the field again to play in the PCAC Championships.
