The Marco Island Academy 2025-2026 winter basketball season is coming up very soon! Coach Chesser, one of the coaches, stated that they will be very excited for the upcoming season and ready to take on any team!

At the start of the season, there will be practice five to six times a week. The team will be working hard and putting in hours to make sure their plays are perfect in time for their first couple games. Working on shooting, dribbling, passing, and defense are all key parts of making this team stand out from the others.
Once basketball games start up, practice will start to have more of a film related focus, sometimes fluctuating depending on how many games are being played every week. Coach Chesser’s goals for this season are to create a fun basketball environment that pushes students to play hard, as well as, win the PCAC at the end of the season.
Coach Chesser is new to the coach role in general, however, Coach Chesser is very much qualified as he has played D1 in the past. He has been preparing for this moment for a while, making sure our team has the best chances to win.
His favorite part of coaching basketball so far has been meeting all the new kids and building a relationship with the team. The entire team gives back to the community and is involved in school activities, bringing their positivity and spirit everywhere they go.
Tryouts were held on Monday, October 27th and Tuesday, October 28th, where the guys learned what it will take to be on this team. Every guy who tried out made it on the team, showing exceptional growth and hard work in those short two days. Congratulations to our captain, . Veleon Nazarko. Go Rays!
