Marco Island Academy’s soccer team played another great game last night.

On January 18th, 2024, the Marco Island Academy Girls’ soccer team traveled to Ave Maria to battle the Shamrocks of Donahue Academy in the PCAC semi-finals. Hoping to come home with a win, our lady rays played their hearts out to end the game with a score of 2-1.

The team played two very long halves of the game while the score remained tied at 0-0, despite both teams having multiple shots on target. The game then carried into a double overtime with two ten-minute halves. Once again, the overtime ended with no goals scored. The teams went into a round of penalty kicks to finish the game. Senior captain Ava Cartwright and freshman Paisley Pappa scored the two winning goals to lead the MIA Rays into the PCAC championship game.

The team worked hard and played with their best effort to end the game with a well-deserved win.

Go Rays!
