Zootopia 2 was actually a really fun movie to watch. I went into it thinking it would just be another sequel that tries too hard to be better than the first one, but it ended up being very entertaining without feeling forced. It had the same energy as the first move while still adding new stuff, which made it feel fresh instead of repetitive.
First off, the animation was really good. The city of Zootopia looked more detailed than before, which made it feel more alive. Every scene had a lot of detail in the background. It honestly makes you realize how much effort goes into animated movies because every single frame looks planned out.
Judy and Nick were still the best part of the movie, no surprise there. Their personalities stayed the same, which was a good thing because that’s what people liked about them in the first place.
Judy is still super determined and serious about her job, and Nick is still sarcastic and chill. Their conversations were hilarious without being cringe and their teamwork felt more natural this time instead of rushed. They argued, joked around, and still got things done, which made the movie more entertaining to watch.
The storyline was super easy to follow and wasn’t overly overwhelming. Sometimes sequels try to make the plot super deep and confusing just to seem important, but this one keeps it simple and interesting.
The movie has mystery in it, some action, and enough twists to keep it engaging without making you sit there confused. It was a kind of plot where you can relax and enjoy it instead of overthinking every detail.
The humor was honestly one of the strongest parts of the movie. It wasn’t the type of humor where every joke is loud and annoying; instead, it has a lot of smaller jokes and background moments that are funnier. Some of the side characters were actually hilarious, and there were a few scenes where a character was just in the background, and it made it somehow 10 times funnier.
Another good thing was that the movie didn’t copy the first one. Yes, it had some references, but it didn’t depend on nostalgia the entire time. It had a different story and showed a new situation instead of repeating the same storyline.
The new characters added a lot to. Some of them were dramatic, some were overly serious, and some were chaotic, which made the movie more entertaining. They balanced out Judy and Nick really well in most of the scenes.
Overall, Zootopia 2 was a really enjoyable movie that didn’t try too hard to be dramatic or overly serious. It was funny, visually impressive, and easy to watch. It kept the charm of the first movie while adding an unexpected twist. It’s the kind of movie you can watch to relax and laugh a little.
