Every year, MIA has its own float in the annual Marco Island Christmas Parade with students, teachers, sports teams, and administrators walking in it. This year, the Thespians joined them and used this as an opportunity to advertise their musical, showing this April.

The Thespians distributed a bunch of handouts with candy, including Smarties and Dum Dums, along with flyers for the Spring musical, “Frog and Toad.” These flyers provided information about the show and included a QR code that led to the MIA theatre website, where a 20 percent discount could be applied to tickets.
They also dressed up all in green to match MIA’s float’s theme of Wicked, while also still keeping in the theme of Frog and Toad. Madisyn Steiner was dressed as Elphaba, and Alexa Hamm was dressed as Glinda.
MIA theatre does this every year, but this time was especially different. “The participation and help that I got this year from Thespians meant a lot to me. Our promotion for the show wouldn’t be the same without it.” With so much student participation, this was the perfect way to get the word out about the spring show.

Not only was this enjoyed by Mr. Dayett, but the students as well. This was a fun way for the students and thespians to connect with each other and get excited for the spring show. Junior Kyleigh Hauter said, “Thespians is the one place I can be myself, and marching with all my friends for something I love will forever be a great memory of mine.”
The thespians are looking forward to preparations and auditions for Frog and Toad to start. Auditions will take place in January 13 and 14th, and callbacks will take place on the 15th. Practices don’t start until February. If you have any questions, contact Mr. Dayett, our performing arts director.
