Earlier this week on Monday, February 3rd, Marco Island Academy’s Interact Club President and senior, Lily Tessarzik, announced a clothing drive for their upcoming service project.
In support of the tragic wildfires raging in California, in parts such as the Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles neighborhoods, etc.; Interact Club is urging Marco Island Academy students and staff to bring in gently used or brand new clothes to send to California for families that have lost everything.
Interact member, Skylar Siems stated “It’s important to donate towards this cause since these people lost everything such as their homes. And having clothes are a top priority of necessities these individuals need.” Any amount of clothes can help an adult or child in need of clothes in the most damaged areas of California.
The person in charge of this event is senior, Addison Babcock. This cause is especially important to Addison because she is personally affected by this cause. She has several friends and family members who live in the affected areas. In an interview about the clothing drive Addison said, “I’ve been in contact with several donations centers in the Los Angeles area… Interact would be thankful for any clothes donated.” Anything counts since thousands of families have been affected after the wildfires erupted in the state of California. Not to mention, the 12,000+ homes and other structures that have been destroyed due to this disaster striking the northwest region of America.
For anyone who is interested in supporting the victims of these wildfires, you can bring in bags of clothes into Miss Scott’s office directly. It would be greatly appreciated as the people of California need our help and support. The deadline to donate clothes is not until the last week of February, so there is still time to donate slightly used or brand new clothes.
