The 2024 NFL season is officially underway! Last week, the NFL kicked off its new season, and every team brought their all to attempt to catch the W!
In my opinion, the top three teams in the AFC conference are the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Kansas City Chiefs took home a big win against the Baltimore Ravens. The final score was 27-20. Although this was a close matchup, the Chiefs pulled off a stunning win. Mahomes threw for 291 yards, and Xaiver Worthy had two touchdowns, 47 receiving yards and 21 yards rushing. The Chiefs ended the game with a scare from the Ravens, but the touchdown wasn’t as good as Isaiah Likely’s toes!
The Buffalo Bills and the Arizona Cardinals played a heated matchup. With a final score of 34-28, the Bills managed to pull off a win. Our game leaders were Quarterback, Josh Allen, who threw for 232 yards, alongside two rushing touchdowns, and linebacker Terral Bernard led the team with 10 personal tackles and one assisted tackle.
Additionally, the Steelers took on the Ravens and dominated them 18-10, winning with no touchdowns, and a whopping 6 field goals. Quarterback, Justin Fields, led their team with 156 yards through the air, and running back Najee Harris created 71 yards on the ground. Kicker, Chris Boswell scored all 18 points with just field goals! His poor leg must be so sore.
In the NFC conference, the Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the top three teams as of late.
The Green Bay Packers had an unfortunate loss against the Philadelphia Eagles with a score of 29-34. Although they had an unfortunate loss, Jordan Love had 260 passing yards, along with two touchdowns through the air. In the 4th quarter, Love had an injury but will hopefully recover fast. Wide receiver, Yayden Reed, led the Packers with 138 receiving yards and 1 touchdown.
The Seattle Seahawks faced the Denver Broncos and won 26-20. The Seahawks’ quarterback, Geno Smith, had 171 passing yards and one touchdown. Cornerback, Julian Love, had 12 tackles and one forced fumble. Seattle was extremely dominant, and Denver’s rookie quarterback Bo Nix felt the wrath of it. Seattle picked off Nix twice.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Washington Commanders 37-20. Starting Quarterback, Baker Mayfield, had 289 passing yards, and 4 passing touchdowns. Mayfield led all quarterbacks in passing yards and passing touchdowns in week one. Safety, Jordan Whitehead, had 8 total tackles on defense. Running back, Bucky Irving, led the running backs with 62 yards on the ground.
Overall, all the games in week one were very entertaining and we will see how this season plays out. It is pretty hard to tell right now, but the league is starting to turn on their engines and gain momentum!
