First Day of School

First+Day+of+School

On Thursday, August 10th, 2023, Marco Island Academy began its 12th year as a school, and its 3rd year in the new building.

With a freshman class of almost seventy, the school looked very lively on the first day.  I saw some familiar faces,” freshman Ava Richardson stated regarding her first day.“I met some new people when I went to mentoring.”

Sophomore Lola Green shared her optimism about this school year after the first day.   “I’m looking forward to making new friends and involving myself more with school.” “We didn’t get lunch on the roof, but other than that it was good.

Michael Richards, a junior, quickly made his excitement clear. “Hanging out with my friends at lunch was the best part of my day.”  Over the summer, it is difficult to see friends every day like students do during school.

This first day of school marked the final ‘first day’ for the class of 2024. “It was weird. Kind of surreal,” senior Leonardo DeMartino shared.  “Graduating high school is a very big step and it’s definitely weird to be so close to that.”

With all that has been said, each of the grades appeared to be enthusiastic with what this new year holds.
