The English 3 Honors classes have officially completed and presented this year’s Interdisciplinary Projects. After weeks of planning, collaboration, and preparation, students brought their ideas to life through creative and engaging performances that reflected the themes of The Great Gatsby and the 1920s.
The most talked about projects were, very obviously, the food ones. The most memorable meal was Alex Rodriguez and Reid Baur’s mock apple pie made with Ritz crackers; they replicated the flavor of real apple pie and accurately represented the 1920s.
Ana Garcia-Perfecto and Marissa Baldino created the other jaw-dropping dish, “Poor Man’s Meal.” Using potatoes and sliced hot dogs, these two chefs made dishes so good that their classmates got seconds.
Another culinary presentation that stood out was created by Amanda Fonseca and Athena Puell, who prepared a Gatsby-style three-course meal, with a complete dinner setup, candlelight, and all. Plus, according to Reagan Toye, “Their lemon pound cake was to die for.”
Moving on to videos, Sarah Friedoff, Bella Oliver, Sophia Ogden, and Amelia Skender’s sitcom exceeded expectations. Every part of their project was memorable, with a classmate complimenting the advertisements in their presentation, saying, “Even the ads were entertaining and well done.”
This video held the audience’s attention and clearly showed the themes and social atmosphere of the 1920s. This group’s attention to detail made their performance stand out as one of the most polished and enjoyable presentations.
Samuel Zocco, Joaquin Perez, Daniel Netid, and Hannah Saad delivered a presentation that, while longer than most, stayed engaging from start to finish. Out of all the projects, they remained the crowd favorite.
Amanda Fonseca shared her opinion on the project, “I really liked their project because it was funny.” The group did an amazing job of accurately representing the 1920s and its themes while keeping it entertaining.
Overall, the Interdisciplinary Projects showcased the creativity, effort, and collaboration of this year’s English 3 Honors classes. From impressive dishes to entertaining and thoughtful performances, each group brought the 1920s to life in a unique way. This year’s projects set a high standard for next year’s juniors, and it is exciting to think about what performances will be created next.
