Top 11 Study Spots At MIA

This humorous article highlights the best study spots at Marco Island Academy.

1. Under Mr. Scalia’s Desk

Are you looking for an isolated place to finish your AICE English Language blog? Although there may be angry rock music blasting above you, Mr. Scalia’s desk provides the perfect cover to cram last night’s homework before you receive a zero. Keep in mind: although it is isolated, it probably stinks like swamp water.

2. The Basketball Hoop

While studying in a basketball hoop may seem highly unrealistic, it can prove to be impressively beneficial for students. Students taking AICE Lit especially love this spot, as it makes reading The Anointing less boring. If you are afraid of heights, this is not the study spot for you.

3. The Big Bathroom Stall

Bathroom stalls are a 2 in 1 study spot. While this may not be the cleanest spot to study, students enjoy the extra square footage that the big bathroom stall offers them. They also appreciate not having to take time out of their studies for bathroom breaks.

4. The Middle of the Soccer Field

If you are one of those nature freaks, you might enjoy kicking back in the middle of the soccer field to hone in on your studies. Who knows, maybe the sunshine will give you the motivation to start that assignment you’ve been putting off for weeks.

   5. In the Middle of the Parking Lot

Do you remember when it was trendy to take “risky street pictures” during COVID? Well, if you have become accustomed to hanging out in the middle of the road, this is the spot for you! You can even blast “The Ultimate Study Playlist” from your car speakers.

6. On Top of a Lunch Table

While there may be a few crumbs left from the last lunch’s feast, the lunch table is a highly recommended spot for studying. You may leave some leftover pasta sauce on the assignment due next block, but at least you had the best view of campus! Who wouldn’t kill for some Takis while working on an edpuzzle?

7. The Elevator

Imagine this: You, your studying materials, and silence. The elevator will decide when you are ready for a break.

8. Under the Water Fountain on the Second Floor

Although it’ll likely be a tight fit, the water fountain on the second floor provides great coverage from classmates and teachers roaming the halls… and you will surely walk away hydrated!

9. The Snack Shack

Are you a foodie? Do you like asking moms for help on your homework? If so, the snack shack is the ultimate study spot for you. You may leave the shack a few pounds heavier, but you won’t go to class hungry!

10. The MIA Fountain

While this may not be one of the most popular study spots, the fountain in front of the school provides students with the opportunity to make fun of students’ bad parking and take advantage of the high UV.

11. The Corner of the Staircase

Aside from when the bell rings, the corner of the staircase can be a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere for studying. When the bell does ring, I would recommend moving with the herd so you stay in one piece.
