Good morning Marco Island Academy, today is Tuesday, SEPTEMBER 26, 2023, and these are your morning announcements!
General Announcements:
Homecoming: Spend a night in Greece!! Get your tickets starting October 2nd for the MIA Homecoming Dance. Ticket sales start at $80 and then go up to $100 the week of homecoming, so make sure you get them as soon as possible. They will be sold during A and B lunches. Homecoming is October 21st, so save the date to dance your way through the night and be a dancing queen!! Reminder: guest forms are at the front desk. Ask Mrs. Kraft for one if needed.
Wynne’s Warriors: This week Key Club is raising money for Kleefstra Syndrome to support a four-year-old toddler named Wynne. Today and tomorrow Key Club will be selling bracelets and baked goods at lunch. Notice the school is purple? On Friday, we will be holding a whole school-wide purple out to support the cause!! Don’t forget your purple on Friday, and be ready for some yummy treats.
Spirit Week: Spirit week starts October 17th!!! Get ready to dress up to show off your school spirit, creativity, and excitement for the MIA Homecoming Dance.
Yearbook: Remember that Junior portraits start tomorrow; try your best not to wear gray or white. Juniors, you will report with one of your classes, so please be ready to smile in the spotlight.
Activities:
Good News Club: The Good News Group is holding an interest meeting TODAY in Mr. Higuera’s room right after school to spend time in the Word!
SGA: It’s FALL Y’All! SGA will be hosting our first Waffle Wednesday TOMORROW. Be sure to bring some cash to enjoy delicious fall-themed waffles and toppings at the Manta Ray Cafe before mentoring. As always, one waffle – one buck.
Athletics:
Soccer:. There is a boys soccer interest meeting today in Senior Higuera’s room.
Football: YAYYY WE WON! OH YEAAA AFTER 6 years!!!!! A BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR BOYS WE ARE SO PROUD TO BE RAYS. A big thanks to our amazing crowd and cheer team for all the sparkle and support!
Cross Country Great job to our cross country team for placing 2nd on Saturday! Brianna Ferro got first place for girls and beat our school’s 5k record with a time of 19:30. Go Rays!
