Good morning Marco Island Academy, it is THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2023, and these are your morning announcements!
General Announcements:
College and Career Night: Next Tuesday, September 18, a College and Career Night is being held at Golden Gate High School from 5:30-7:30pm. Check out your “Class of” Google Classroom to see the colleges that will be attending and for additional information.
Google Classrooms: Attention all students, please make sure you’re checking your “Class of” Google Classrooms. Posted on them are college visits, information on career night, scholarships, and more. If you aren’t in your grade specific Google Classroom, please speak to your mentor.
Class of 2024 Google Classroom Updates: Information on your SARS for your college applications and the scholarship connector has been recently added as well.
Yearbook: Shout out to our Seniors for being so cooperative yesterday again. Today is the final day for senior portraits. Make sure you’re following your time slots on both release and picture times. Reminder: Underclassmen portraits start next Tuesday so be ready!!!
Job Opportunity: Cocomo’s Grill is hiring. They are in need of two hostesses and a food runner. Please apply in person if you are interested.
Activities:
MIA Theatre: It’s Thespian Theatre Thursday, so here’s a little Broadway Trivia. On today’s date in 2015, the musical Mamma Mia! closed on Broadway after playing 5,773 performances.
And speaking of Mamma Mia…The show wall is officially up in Mr. Dayett’s hallway. Only one of the shows on the wall will be crowned the winner and selected to be our spring show. The madness begins next Thursday.
Interested in getting involved in theatre? Join us for today’s Thespians meeting after school in room 228. Lots to talk about and lots of deadlines coming up in the next 2 weeks for Districts.
Thespians Fundraiser: Pizza, pasta, wings, gyros, sushi, and so much more! On Monday, September 18th, grab takeout or dine in from 4-10 p.m. at the only Sami’s Pizza and Grill on Marco Island. Tell them you are from MIA, and 10% of the sales go back to our MIA Thespians to help send them to Districts.
SGA: Let’s get ready to ruuuuuuummmmmmmmmble!!! It is Powderpuff time! The duel between pink and blue is back and will be played on October 18th. Ladies interested in playing and gentlemen interested in cheering them on, please join us for an interest meeting next Thursday, September 21st, after school in Mrs. Walther’s Room, room 137.
ECO Club: Today after school there will be an Eco club meeting in Mrs. Dickson’s room. This meeting is open for anyone interested to attend. If you love the environment and want hands-on experience while learning, check it out!
Athletics:
Volleyball: TONIGHT, there is a party in the USA in our very own gym as the Lady Rays take on the Mason Classical Paladins at 6:00pm. So Rays, rock your red, white, and blue and get ready to rock our home stands.
Soccer: There is a girls soccer interest meeting on Tuesday, September 19th after school. If you have interest in soccer, exercising is a great way to prepare.
Baseball: Believe it or not, there is still an interest form for the MIA baseball team on Mr. Miller’s door. Come check it out! Go Rays!
