Good morning Marco Island Academy, it is WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2022, and these are your morning announcements!

General Announcements

Freshmen: Please stop congregating inside and outside of Miss Scott’s office. Go to your mentoring.

College Visits:  We are pleased to announce that a representative from several colleges will be coming to MIA to discuss their schools and to answer any questions you may have about the application process.  These opportunities are open to all grade levels.  

Ringling College of Art & Design – Sept 19th

Florida Polytechnic – Sept 21st

FGCU – Sept 30th

Look for the sign-ups posted in Google classrooms.  You must sign-up in advance to attend.

SENIOR MEETING: Our first senior meeting will be held today during BLOCK 1 in the gymnasium.  Please wait for an announcement that will release all senior students.  Again, please wait for the announcement before releasing all seniors to the gym. 

Athletics:  Alllll athletes, please ensure that you pay your athletic fee prior to homecoming.  

Volleyball:  We hope to see you Protect Our Shores TOMORROW night as our JV and Varsity teams battle the Sharks of Bonita.  Come dressed as lifeguards and protect our surf.  Lather up the sunscreen, but please note NO WHISTLES, as they will interfere with the game.  JV begins at 5:30 and Varsity at 7:00pm.

Lacrosse:  Interested in playing MIA lacrosse in the Spring? Please sign-up on the sheet that is with Miss Amelia at the front desk.  This is the last week that the sign-up sheet will be available.  Go Rays!

Activities:  

ECO Club: Reminder to everybody in E.C.O. to run up to Mr.Swope’s room and grab the permission slip for Saturdays field trip. Make sure to turn it in as soon as possible!

Key Club: Kleefstra Syndrome awareness week continues! The treats continue today with buy-one, get-one at both lunches, and bracelets are being sold this week! On Friday, we will also show our support by wearing all purple!

SGA: Ready for a totally groovy, sparkling, disco good time?  Homecoming 2022, Night at the Disco will be September 24th at the Marco Island Hilton. Tickets are on sale during A and B lunches! THIS IS THE LAST WEEK AT THIS PRICE.  Need a guest form? Please pick one up at the front desk today.   All guest forms must be approved before purchasing a ticket and submitted by THIS FRIDAY – September 16.  

Lip Sync: Is YOUR class the TOP RAY at MIA?  Then, PROVE IT!  Show off your skills in your Class Lip Sync, and try to take the top prize.  See the fliers around school for more info!

Spirit Week: HOMECOMING week is NEXT week, and Monday, September 19 marks our first Spirit Day with Adam Sandler Day.

Chess Club:Looking for a challenge? Join Chess Club to learn, practice and sharpen your chess skills. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or advanced player, everyone is welcome. The club will meet tomorrow after school in room 136. 

FCA will have their weekly meeting tomorrow morning at 7:45 in room 133.  All are welcome!

Key Club will have their m embers meeting tomorrow  during A and B lunches. A lunch will be in Mrs. G’s Room and B lunch will be in Mrs. Walther’s room. 

THESPIANS: The Thespians will host Music and Games on the Mezz this Friday, from 6-8:30pm. Sing some karaoke, play your instruments, read some poetry, compete in some fun games, and more. Pizza, snacks, and drinks will be available for purchase. Bring Your Own Favorite Game!  See the flyers around campus for more details.

Also, there will be a Thespians meeting after school this Friday.
