Good morning Marco Island Academy, it is FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2022, and these are your morning announcements!

General Announcements

College Visits:  We are pleased to announce that a representative from several colleges will be coming to MIA to discuss their schools and to answer any questions you may have about the application process.  These opportunities are open to all grade levels.  

Ringling College of Art & Design – Sept 19th

Florida Polytechnic – Sept 21st

FGCU – Sept 30th

Look for the sign up to be posted in Google classroom.  You must sign-up in advance.

Lunches: Do you love pizza? Well, fill up your tummies TODAY during A and B lunches!

Athletics:  Alllll athletes, please ensure that you pay your athletic fee prior to homecoming.  

Senior athletes in a fall sport, please meet in the gym TODAY right after school, dressed in uniforms for your senior banner photo.  

Lacrosse:  Calling all boys interested in playing MIA lacrosse in the Spring…please sign-up on the sheet that is with Miss Amelia at the front desk.  Go Rays!

Activities:  

NHS: Happy Friday Juniors and Seniors!  This is a reminder that NHS applications are due to Mr. Wolfe in Room 313 by the end of the school day TODAY. Decision letters will come out next Friday.

SGA: Ready for a totally groovy, sparkling, disco good time?  Homecoming 2022, Night at the Disco will be September 24th at the Marco Island Hilton. Tickets go on sale next week during A and B lunches! Need a guest form? Please pick one up at the front desk today.   All guest forms must be approved before purchasing a ticket and submitted by September 16.

Lip Sync: Is YOUR class the TOP RAY at MIA?  Then, PROVE IT!  Show off your skills in your Class Lip Sync, and try to take the top prize.  See the fliers around school for more info!

Spirit Week: September is flying by AND soon HOMECOMING week will be here!!  Monday, September 19 marks the beginning of Spirit Week, and we want full participation.  Check out fliers for details.

THESPIANS:  Order forms for the Thespian Jerseys are due TODAY!

• Registration for the District competition is in less than 4 weeks.

• For the latest Thespian information, see the bulletin board outside Mr. Dayett’s room, room 228, and join the BAND app page!
• Save the date! The Thespians will host a game night/open mic night next Friday night on the mezzanine.

Spanish Honor Society: Spanish Honor Society will be meeting in room 137, Sra. Walther’s room on Monday, September 12th at 3:30 pm.  We highly encourage any students who love language and culture and are interested in becoming a part of the Spanish Honor Society. We love new members! 

Interact: Guess what… there is still some FALL deliciousness left and now it’s BOGO!  Get them at lunch today!
