Friday November 22nd MIA’s longest standing tradition, Festival of nations will be celebrated.
The tradition of Festival of Nations all started years ago in our very own Mrs. Galiana’s classroom. For the first few years it was limited to the student’s in Galiana’s class, but as years went on and word got around, she opened this celebration to every student and teacher in the school. In the beginning the celebration was held outside, due to the lack of space in the portables. But in recent years this tradition has taken place in MIA’s gymnasium.
This year’s Festival of Nations is more bittersweet than years past because Mrs. Galiana is retiring. Although the tradition of all MIA students and staff gathering for a celebration, this will be the founder’s last year attending as a teacher.
During the main feast from various different countries, performers will dazzle the crowd, with performances. You can look forward seeing the cheer team performing a dance. As well as various songs and other musical performances from a mixture of students and staff. Carrying on their tradition of performing each year is the Academy of Rock, who will play us through the event.
As entertainers perform each grade will be called up one by one to the feast and grab whatever food they want. Starting with Seniors and ending with Freshmen. Everyone is encouraged to try new food from all different cultures on this day. People are allowed to go up dor second servings once everyone is served.
