Senior Spotlight: Nick Smithem
Nick Smithem, a senior at Marco Island Academy has been shooting buckets ever since he was five years old. Now, Nick Smithem is leaving a legacy behind as a shooting guard and small forward.
Growing up, his inspiration was Stephen Curry, so he said that he “strives to become a greater or even similar shooter like Curry.” The best moment in his basketball career was against Everglades, Nick Smithem pushed his limits and scored a total of 13 points. With the help of his teammates, they finished the game with a win. His favorite memory of all time was of him dunking on his teammate John Boxma, a junior at Marco Island Academy.
During Nick’s free time, he would go out with friends to hang out. After school, he loves to spend his time going to the gym and working out. If he doesn’t go to the gym, he would stay home and watch Netflix and sleep when he’s tired.
After high school, Nick’s decision is not to go to college, but he would like to continue his basketball career and possibly make it to the NBA. In the future, his plan is to keep pushing himself and improving his skills in basketball to achieve his dream of going to the NBA.
