Senior Spotlight: Xavier Parra
Xavier is a senior at Marco Island Academy he has been on the school’s basketball team for only one year playing the center position. Although he has only played at MIA for one year, he has been playing basketball ever since he was 13 years old.
Outside of school Xavier practices playing at the park. When Xavier was asked why he liked the sport so much he said “it’s one of the most fun things to do and it becomes like therapy and in a way a distraction from the struggles in daily life.”
Xavier was also asked why he pushes himself so much, he said “ I want to see the best version of me on the court and what’s my maximum potential.” Xavier wanted to appreicate who has helped him along the way, he said, “my mom and my cousin and administration Mr. Ray, Ms. Galiana, and most definitely Ms. Scott.”
Xavier plays NBA 2K in his free time and talks to girls and friends. His favorite basketball team is the Miami Heat. Xavier looks up to his mom when asked why he said, “I look to my mom because is the reason I do everything I do in my life. She taught me everything about life and showed me with her constant hard work and dedication and sacrifice why she is the greatest mom in the world.” In the future, Xavier would like to travel to California and Paris. After highschool, Xavier would like to go to George T. Baker Aviation school in Miami.
