Senior Spotlight: Alex Winnik
Alex Winnik has been going for the green since he was just a kid. In middle school, Alex made his first competitive appearance. Now, a senior at Marco Island Academy, he has been part of the MIA boys golf team during his junior and senior years. Apart from his time spent on the links for MIA, Alex has been an avid varsity lacrosse player for the Lely Trojans.
Alex states that he’s “always been golfing with my dad, but the first team I ever played on was in middle school, I also participated in golf my junior and senior year at MIA.”
Make no mistake, Alex still has plenty of time outside of the links to focus on what he loves most. He says that “the biggest thing up until a year ago was playing video games with my friends, but nowadays my focus has been in the gym.”
Alex has been heavily involved in Key Club activities and sports since he enrolled at MIA. Besides golf, he plays club lacrosse in competitions.
Alex states that his academic plans are to be accepted into a Florida university, where he will pursue a degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
In the years following college, he says his future plans involve finding a job he enjoys, whether it means working from home or relocating to another city or state. His near-future plans include the prospect of owning a piece of land or “living on a farm in the mountains,” as Alex describes it.
