Remember When: Songs
1. Toxic – Britney Spears
Remember when you would hear the screeching come onto the radio, and immediately your mother would try to turn down the radio to avoid early hearing loss, but it was too late. Toxic is a hate it or love song, depending when or where, or how you’re feeling at that given time.
2. Super Bass – Nicki Minaj
Childhood innocence really protected us all from the true lyrics of this song, and looking back most of us really had no clue as to what she was speaking about. However, hearing it now doesn’t make it any less good.
3. Party In The USA – Miley Cyrus
In contrast to some of the other songs, listening to party in the USA is simply mild in comparison. This song, while still amazing, comes with no ulterior meanings, or any use of ‘bad language’ whatsoever in the song. The summer parties and bad sleepovers that flow through this song really can’t get much better.
4. Firework- Katy Perry
Now personally, 8 year old me listening to this song did not in fact feel like a plastic bag, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless and it tended to lift my spirits. We really could’ve all used fireworks in some way throughout 2020. This song screams fourth of July, despite it having nothing to do with the holiday, all you need is the name and it works.
5. I Gotta Feeling – Black Eyed Peas
I remember getting my first iPod, and the only songs being on it was ‘I gotta feeling’ and ‘Fireball’ by Pitbull. I would listen to this song on repeat, on long car rides. In my free time I would work on finally getting all of the lyrics down to I gotta feeling, (minus the curse words around my parents)
