Senior Spotlight: Bridget Sweeney
Showing school spirit and cheering is what Marco Island Academy senior Bridget Sweeny does best. Bridget became a Ray during her sophomore year of high school and hasn’t looked back since her transfer from East High School in St. Charles, Illinois.
Her years at MIA were made memorable by cheering alongside her twin sister, Megan, and her long-time friends, Jocelyn and Cadence Snover.
In Bridget’s opinion, it isn’t just a team, it’s family. A family that has taught her to “always extend grace.” Bridget also shares that, “communication is the most valuable when making a team feel like a family.”
When she wasn’t calling her favorite cheer, titled “It will roll around the rim, but it won’t go in,” Bridget was doing her second favorite thing, stunting. Bridget is a base for her team and loves to throw up her flyers during games. She enjoys learning new, complicated stunts to perform and loves the challenge.
One of Bridget’s most memorable moments was performing the “cupid shuffle” during halftime. She is eager for whatever the next chapter in her life will be and what it may bring. Bridget plans on finishing her Associate’s degree at FSW, then pursuing a career in the medical field.
