Senior Spotlight: Megan Sweeney
A cheerleader requires determination, dedication, and commitment; these are all qualities that Marco Island Academy senior Megan Sweeny possesses. Megan has been at MIA since her sophomore year after she transferred from East High School in St. Charles, Illinois.
Her fondest memories of MIA came from cheering alongside her twin sister, Bridget, and her long-time friends, Jocelyn and Cadence Snover (or, as Megan likes to call them, JP and Cade). Megan shares that she favors “the sleepless nights at cheer camp” and the time they performed the “Cotton Eye Joe” at the boy’s basketball games.
MIA taught her that being a part of a team is essential in life because it teaches you responsibility and allows you to undergo new challenges.
Megan will forever be a cheerleader, and MIA has left a place in her heart permanently. Even though Megan is disheartened to see her team go, she explains, “I am excited to be graduating, and I can’t wait to see where life takes me.” Megan plans to finish her associate’s degree at FSW and then pursue a career in the military or law enforcement.
