The Marco Island Academy Cheerleaders have been showing up to every football game, cheering on the football team with all of their spirit. Waving and jumping on the sidelines, the Lady Rays show enthusiasm when most needed. Practicing on Mondays and Saturdays, these girls are well prepared for every game that they cheer at. This year, these talented, well-bonded girls set a new record for the cheerleaders, putting up four groups of straight-up extensions in one game.
During practice, you can see the girls still learning new chants to surprise watchers at the games and still working hard to perfect their stunts, while also learning new ones. The month of October has been a burst of pink for these girls. From the pink jerseys to the pom-poms, these girls are supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Above all, the one thing that can constantly be seen is that these girls are always having fun and working hard. The girls just recently had their senior night, celebrating the class of 2026 and honoring their hard work to get to this point.
It’s not the end of cheerleading for this year, though. Winter season for cheer is getting started up and the girls will move into the gym to support both the girls and boys basketball team. Any questions about tryouts can go to sgutwerk@marcoislandacademy.
