After a year and month of off-season training, the Marco Island Academy volleyball team is stepping onto the court with fresh energy, focus, and big goals for the 2025 season. This season is looking bright for the Lady Rays. They are looking stronger than ever before. The Lady Rays won both of their pre-season games against Seacrest and Community School. Two schools that have been volleyball powerhouses for years, and winning against these big schools is a huge accomplishment for the Rays.
With a blend of returning starters and promising newcomers, the Rays are aiming to turn heads this fall. The Lady Rays have a roster of 13, with three seniors, five juniors, four sophomores, and one freshman. The Lady Rays are led by three seniors, Madison Stolinas, Rylee Howard, and Medney Garraux. The team did not graduate any seniors last year, and they only got better by adding freshmen and transfers.
Each and every one of these girls plays a crucial role on this team.
The Rays have been training five days a week since the beginning of summer, in the weight room and on the court, all getting stronger, faster, and building team chemistry.
So far, the Lady Rays have 17 games lined up, not including conference championships, or the state tournament. They have already played two regular season games and won both decisively. The Lady Rays will be playing teams from as far as Miami in the regular season, and they are ready for some high level, competitive volleyball this season is going to bring.
The Lady Rays are also eyeing something bigger than just beating teams from the other coast. They are looking for a state title. This season is about proving to themselves, playing smarter, and coming together when it counts. This year they are the best they have ever been and they believe they can do it.
The Rays quiet confidence and strong preseason work ethic suggest they’ll be a team to watch as the season unfolds. The Lady Rays are back – strong, focused, and ready for what is ahead of them.
