The lady’s lacrosse team made history during the 2025 season, with their first-ever multiple home wins. It has been a season to remember.
In January, tryouts had an overwhelming turn-out of over 30 girls. However, after much thought, all the girls were able to play this season.

Coach Wendy has been a giant asset to the lacrosse program. She has a background in coaching as the lacrosse head coach for a University in Virginia. This year she taught the girls many strategies and plays that have been very effective in games.
“Coach Wendy has completely reconstructed our team. We all felt the shift on the first day of practice that she came to. She’s hard-working and dedicated, something our team needed to build off of this season” said senior, Emma Nash.
Captains Jessica Vorderstrasse, Brianna McGowan, and Noa Batlle have led the team the entire season, showing determination and strength in guiding the girls through their wins and losses.
“Being a part of this team has been so fun. Every practice and game is full of energy. Coach Ginther and Wendy have helped us so much throughout the season. I am so grateful for everyone’s hard work and dedication” said fourth year varsity player, Vorderstrasse.
Third year varsity player Batlle, mentioned, “Seeing the team grow in number and improve has been so amazing to watch. I love this team so much and I am so sad to be leaving it this year. I can’t wait to see what it turns into.”
Leading scorer McGowan has played lacrosse for seven years and it shows. She was Lady Ray’s secret weapon this season. “I love being on this team so much. I love our teamwork and how the girls hype each other up on the field. The energy is always high and the improvement from the beginning of the season is just amazing” stated McGowan.
Everyone on the team has shown such amazing progress in as little as one year. The girls showed great pride in being a part of this team. They are a tight-knit group.
Coach Ginther, who has been with the girls since the beginning, stated that he is, “so proud of the improvement that these girls have made as a team. The amount of progress in just a couple of months has me extremely excited for what is to come! I am so proud of our winning record in our second season.”
This fantastic season leaves the team very optimistic about what the Girls’ Lacrosse team will look like these upcoming seasons. These hard-working athletes will continue to make history as the Lacrosse team continues to grow.
The season has not yet come to an end. The ladies will face Village School of Naples and then will head to district championships. Let’s Go Rays!
