Torch: A Musical Tale, is a musical play created and directed by MIA’s theater teacher, Mr. Dayett. His creative skills and direct ability brought him to piece together this play. This is Dayett’s second original play/musical ever created, so this is exciting to see how it plays out. Frozen, the 2013 film, gave inspiration to Mr. Dayett when writing this play. Along with the Tangled cruise ship musical that inspired him to create the set designs in a similar aspect. However, the film, Frozen, is based on the Viking era, and has several main characters but one of them being Kristoff which is similar to Torch. Many details are still yet to be discovered because this is an original play never seen before.

Marco Island Academy is excited about this one-of-a-kind original and can’t wait to be able to watch it. This musical is going to be unlike any other and will surprise many. The play can be seen as motivational, with the idea being that fate is what you make of it, and sometimes it’s supposed to be changed. There are 14 different characters, all with unique personalities that Mr. Dayett made to fit into this musical tale. Each character having a different part obviously and containing different aspects such as dancing, singing, or just acting in general. Not everyone in the play has a singing part or dancing part so if that isn’t your cup of tea, there could be a part for you to suit whatever your heart desires.

Students are excited to gather together and experience the first showing of this original musical. Torch: A Musical Tale will transfer you into a new world of theatre and create an atmosphere of absolute fun. The play comes out in April 2025; stay ready. We hope to see you there. Let’s go Rays!
