This past Saturday we had our yearly homecoming dance at the Marco Island Country Club, the theme was “Nights of Nights”.
The dance started at 6PM and ended at 10PM. Each student enjoyed dancing away as songs from as far back to the 2016 era to the latest 2024 trends were played.
The country club provided amazing food, varying from pizza to mini sliders. And the featured dessert items were ice cream, cookies, and fudge filled brownies. The dance had a professional DJ that blasted fun music, with a loud sound system that enabled the real party energy. The dance also had a photo booth, which would print out cute strips of polaroid-like pictures that everyone could take with their friends. The booth had fun props like pretend glasses and speech bubbles to enhance the pictures lifelike energy.
Further into the night, the homecoming court was announced. The first court announced was the freshmen class, which consisted of Liv Stanford and Elifer Ramirez Patzan. Followed by sophomore court, Brinley Hefflin and Zach Massie. Then we had our junior court, Lily Chiscavage and Kai Schertell. MIA student, Lily Chiscavage, stated “Seeing each court get announced onto the dance floor was so sweet and the joy on everyone’s faces was incredible to see.” Lastly we have our senior court, Michelle Acosta and Cade Scarnavack, Cassie Letendre and Colin Cherr, Lucy McFarland and Maximo Walters, and last but not least our senior court homecoming king and queen, Gavin Wall and Layla Platt. MIA student and homecoming queen, Layla Platt, stated “Being announced as homecoming queen was awesome and I’m glad I had the opportunity to dance and feel honored at this years’ homecoming dance.” After everyone was introduced, they took the dance floor as each couple danced to the song, “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton. Then, they slow danced to the song and shortly after the entire school joined the court on the dance floor to dance the night away.
The dance was an overall success, and everyone had so much fun. Each year the Marco Island Academy homecoming dance gets better and better, with the exciting ambiance and total camaraderie.
