Over the past years, there have been a variety of internet trends that have either been a complete yay or nay. However, these internet trends listed below can be argued as some of the worst trends ever created.
-
Devious Lick
The first worst internet trend is the “Devious Lick” trend, where students decided that stealing school property was a fun idea. Varying from toilets to entire soap dispensers, kids were showing off what they took online. They thought it was a funny idea, but instead, they were just digging their own graves in detention. Schools all over the country had to lock everything down, and made stricter rules for people trying to go to the bathroom.
-
Tide Pod Challenge
The infamous “Tide Pod Challenge”. For some reason, people thought it was a good idea to eat laundry detergent pods. Because, you know, nothing says “fun” like poisoning yourself. This trend quickly showed that tide pods were not the safest snack choice, and left parents wondering if they needed to start a support group for their kid’s dumb choices.
-
Cinnamon Challenge
The “Cinnamon Challenge” had kids trying to swallow a spoonful of cinnamon without any water. It sounded easy until everyone who tried it would start choking and coughing while cinnamon flew everywhere. Let’s just say, the only thing that came out of that challenge was a lot of embarrassment and maybe a new fear of spices.
-
Slap a Teacher Challenge
Then there was the “Slap a Teacher Challenge”, which is as ridiculous as it sounds. The idea was to slap your teacher and film it for likes. Spoiler Alert: It didn’t end well for anyone involved. Teachers were not amused, and students quickly found themselves facing serious consequences. Pro Tip: If you want a good grade, don’t start with a slap!

TikTok Pranks
Finally, we have those TikTok pranks that would sometimes cross the line into straight-up bullying. Some kids thought it would be funny to embarrass their friends on camera by either tripping them or yelling out something to embarrass them, but it often ended with drama or somebody being hurt. In most cases, these pranks wouldn’t get too out of hand but of course there were some people who would take it too far.
These trends are a reminder of how wild the internet can be, especially for kids. While some might seem funny at first, they can lead to some crazy consequences. Therefore, the next time you see something trending, think twice before jumping in, your future self will thank you!
