The winter cheer season is finally here! Football season has come to an end, meaning basketball season is on its way. If you are interested in trying out for winter cheer, tryouts will be held November 4th, 5th, and 6th at Veterans Park from 4-6 pm. For more information about trying out, join the “Band” app using the QR code that is featured around the school on the posters that are hung on almost every wall.
The winter season of cheer will be a little different from the fall season. Instead of cheering at Winterberry Park, the cheer team supports the Rays from their home gym. During the basketball season, the team cheers from the bleachers. With loud cheers projecting from the stands onto the floor of the gym, this season will be full of camaraderie and total excitement. However, unlike football cheer, winter cheerleaders do not travel to away games. All the games attended by the cheerleaders will be home games.
To mention, an extravagant halftime show will be featured at almost every game. This will provide entertainment and joy to the crowd and showcase each cheerleader’s talent. With the winter basketball season, it also falls into the holiday season where performances such as the yearly Christmas Island Style – Christmas Tree Lighting. The tree lighting takes place at Veteran’s Park and showcases several dance performances from all ages. But don’t forget about the Marco Island Christmas Parade. This parade will take place along San Marco Road and feature a ton of cool floats and lit up cars that encourage the true holiday energy.
The cheerleaders lead with spirit and will bring smiles along with them. If you’re interested in this winter season, don’t be afraid to join! The cheer team would love to have you.
Go Rays!
