Last season, the MIA Boys Basketball team struggled greatly. Due to a variety of factors, the Rays had a lot of difficulty winning games, and thus ended the season with an overall record of 1-21. This year the team has been reorganized for the better, with both new coaches and new players.

New head coach in Travis Barry, is a former college basketball player who understands the game better than most. He has been involved with youth sports at MICMS, and coaches basketball, cross country and track.

“We are blessed to have a coach with Mr. Barry’s experience, and a great moral force of character,” said Athletic Director Damon Coiro. “Mr. Barry’s vision will allow the program to grow, and he will work tirelessly to ensure it does.” With him in charge, MIA should have a new and improved team that we didn’t see last season.

Another reason why the Rays team will improve from last season is because of the new addition of freshman players from MICMS. Kevin Barry, Kyler Howard and Johnny Watt, helped their middle school win the first spot in their division, and lead them to the playoffs. With this in mind, the sky is the limit on the impact they will make this year.

MIA returns 6’ 5’’ center Brendan Howard, who will step up this year as a senior leader. Also returning is sophomore Dominic Moller.  New additions Logan Gross, Rolph Tanis, Evans Metelus and Seth Wilson, all bring a range of talents that will immediately impact the team.
