Senior Spotlight: John Boxma

John Boxma played two varsity sports in his senior year. He competed in basketball in the fall and baseball in the spring. John has been playing basketball since he was in 5th grade and has been playing all 4 years of high school. He played the point guard position in basketball and is a very dedicated player. This is shown through his free time being spent playing and practicing basketball. 

John has overcome many obstacles during his years of playing basketball. He exclaims “I continued to work on my craft and became a skilled basketball player rather than a big basketball player. This challenge I overcame helped me so much mentally that my confidence began to show on and off the court.”.

After high school, John is attending UCF and is majoring in data science. Although John loved playing basketball with his teammates throughout the years he only wishes to play recreationally in the future. John built a strong bond with his teammates and he is seen as a leader by his team.
