The MIA Academy of Rock is Marco Island Academy’s after-hours rock band dedicated to allowing students to fulfill their musical passions and showcase their talent in a tightly knit, accepting, and supportive environment. The History and Culture Club has been a prominent part of MIA for the last 7 years. After its formation in 2016 with just a few members, it has multiplied in size ever since. FCA stands for Fellowship of Christian Athletes. This club is for students that value their faith and are able to share this with other students in the club. Student Government Association
Student Government Association (SGA) gives students a stronger voice. SGA at MIA is responsible for organizing student activities like dances, spirit weeks, Pep Rallies, Holiday festivities, fundraisers, and staff appreciation activities to name a few. Spanish Honor Society (SHH) is an honor society for students who excel in the subject of Spanish. Interact is a student-led club supervised by our principal, Ms. Scott. Interact is centered around helping the community and volunteering. Boy’s Basketball Update
Since MIA has opened its doors, the varsity boys basketball team has been the most successful athletic program for the school. This year, the basketball program is coached by Jim Watt and features team leaders, seniors Shamus Coyle and John Boxma. Boy’s Soccer
The MIA boy’s soccer team is coached by Mr. Fernando Higuera and assistant coach Joseph Wood. Practices are held on the new turf field on Monday through Thursday. Lacrosse Update
This is the first year Marco Island Academy has their own lacrosse team. Practice is held on the Manta Ray field Monday through Friday from 5-7 p.m. Before practice the team warms up in the newly constructed weight room. Coach J.B. The girls soccer team practices Monday through Friday from 4-5:30. The next soccer game the Rays will play is Donahue Academy on January 23, 2023, the game will be at 4:00pm. If students are interested in playing, tryouts are on January 26th at Tommie Barfield Elementary School. Practices are held Monday through Friday.
