Good morning Marco Island Academy, it is THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2022, and these are your morning announcements!

General Announcements

College Visits:  Several colleges will be coming to MIA to discuss their schools and to answer any questions. These opportunities are open to all grade levels.  

Ringling College of Art & Design – Sept 19th

Florida Polytechnic – Sept 21st

FGCU – Sept 30th

Look for the sign-ups posted in Google classrooms.  You must sign-up in advance to attend.

Athletics:  Alllll athletes, please ensure that you pay your athletic fee prior to homecoming.  

Volleyball:  We hope to see you Protect Our Shores TONIGHT night as our JV and Varsity teams battle the Sharks of Bonita.  Come dressed as lifeguards and protect our surf.  Lather up the sunscreen, but please note -NO WHISTLES- as they will interfere with the game.  JV begins at 5:30 and Varsity at 7:00pm.

Lacrosse:  Interested in playing MIA lacrosse in the Spring.  Then, sign-up on the sheet that is with Miss Amelia at the front desk. Go Rays!

Activities: 

The Wave: There will be an interest meeting for The Wave next Tuesday, September 20, right after school in Mr. Scalia’s room 233! All who are interested should plan on attending!]’]\\ 

ECO Club: Reminder to everybody in E.C.O. to run up to Mr.Swope’s room and grab the permission slip for Saturdays field trip. Make sure to turn it in as soon as possible!

Key Club: Kleefstra Syndrome awareness week continues! Bracelets are being sold and tomorrow -Friday- show our support by wearing all purple!

Key Club will have their members meeting today, during A and B lunches. A lunch will be in Mrs. G’s Room and B lunch will be in Mrs. Walther’s room.

SGA: Ready for a totally groovy, sparkling, disco good time?  Homecoming 2022, Night at the Disco will be September 24th at the Marco Island Hilton. Tickets are on sale during A and B lunches! THIS IS THE LAST WEEK AT THIS PRICE.  Need a guest form? Pick one up at 

the front desk.   All guest forms must be approved before purchasing a ticket and submitted by tomorrow, September 16.  

Lip Sync: If you are interested in participating in the lip sync for the upcoming pep-rally, please speak to one of the following by TOMORROW: Mrs. Ray, Mrs. Higuera, Sra. Walther, or Miss. Scott. Practices will begin MONDAY after school. 

Spirit Week: HOMECOMING week is NEXT week, and Monday, September 19 marks our first Spirit Day with Adam Sandler Day.

Chess Club: Join Chess Club to learn, practice and sharpen your chess skills. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or advanced player, everyone is welcome. The club will meet today after school in room 136. 

THESPIANS: The Thespians will host Music and Games on the Mezz TOMORROW from 6-8:30pm. Sing some karaoke, play your instruments, read some poetry, compete in some fun games, and more. Pizza, snacks, and drinks will be available for purchase. Bring Your Own Favorite Game!  See the flyers around campus for more details.

Thespian members, lots of info has been posted on Band and lots more info will be posted this week. Please be sure to read all of the posts.  Also, there will be a Thespians meeting after school tomorrow.
