Senior Spotlight: Emma Blankenship
Emma Blankenship is one of the captains of Marco Island Academy’s cheerleading team. She has participated in cheerleading since second grade and has done competitive cheer for three years. Emma recently moved from Georgia and decided to join the MIA cheer team with her friends, Kendall Jacobs and Rachel Drake. Emma’s favorite moment this season was working on new stunts with her group. Emma said, “I’m forever thankful for this team that has welcomed me and I couldn’t be more proud of the girls.”
Emma’s favorite memory at MIA was meeting Mr. Butler’s dog, Caribou Lou. The highlight of her senior year is having been part of the cheerleading team. Some of Emma’s hobbies are working at a local restaurant after school and working on the Marco Island Academy’s yearbook, Legatum.
Emma is hoping to go to college at Florida State University where she plans to major in nursing or accounting. She is especially interested in pediatrics which goes along with her love for children. In the future, she is hoping to work full-time at a hospital. Emma also hopes to move out of Florida after college to experience more of the world. Emma will be missed, but everyone at MIA is looking forward to what’s in store for her future.
