Announcements

Good morning Marco Island Academy, it is THURSDAY, JANUARY 12, 2023, and these are your morning announcements!   

General Announcements:

Lunch: No lunch on the mezz CONTINUES this week; there is no lunch on the mezz this week.

Waffle Wednesday: Next week SGA is doing another waffle Wednesday. Wednesday the 18th make sure you bring your dollars because waffles are only one buck!

Athletics:   

Senior Winter Athletes: PLEASE pick up/turn in your senior night scripts for your senior nights to Mr. Miller ASAP.

Lacrosse: If you missed the interest meeting and are interested in playing this Spring, please see Mr. Miller ASAP.  

Baseball: Baseball tryouts will be Thursday January 26th at 6pm at the TBE ball field.  Please be certain to have your physical AND  Athletics.  Packet. Athletics. Packet.  Turned into Mr. Miller ASAP.

Basketball: Last night, our basketball teams faced the Terriers of Moorehaven.  Congratulations to the Varsity  Girls and Boys teams for their wins last night. 

Soccer: Last night the girls and boys traveled to Donahue to take on the Shamrocks, and the girls fought to defend our goal and took the tie 0-0. Go Rays!

Activities:

MIA Pickleball Club Everyone is invited to attend MIA’s first Pickleball Club meeting.  The meeting will be held TOMORROW-Friday, January 13th-, in Mr. Wood’s room.  Hope to see you there.

Interact: Semester 2 meetings will begin TOMORROW -Friday,January 13- at 7:45am on the mezz; new members are always welcome.  

Auditions for Superhero are next week. There are singing and non-singing roles available, and little to no dancing in this show. See the QR codes around campus or check your “Class Of” Google Classroom page for details on how you can get involved on stage or behind the scenes. Audition packets are now available. You can pick one up from Mr. Dayett, Mrs. Ray, or a Thespian.

Theatre:  There will be a theatre meeting today after school for all those interested in doing anything theatre related at MIA, whether in class, after school, on stage, behind the scenes, field trips, or just for fun. All are welcome. We’ll also be talking about Superhero. There are few field trip opportunities to see some great local plays coming up in the next few weeks!

Aaron Toy, who is currently playing Iago in the national tour of Disney’s Aladdin will be coming to campus next Thursday to lead a masterclass in musical theatre. All are invited to attend, participate, or to meet him and learn what it’s like to play such an iconic role in the Disney musical. More info will be posted soon.
